First aid can be so many things in this world today. There are so many different cases where there are situations where people were not educated in the way that they could help to prevent harm from happening to themselves and to others. For those people who don’t know first aid assistance is something that is given to a person who may be sick and or injured who needs some kind of medical assistance or attention. The term first aid is a simple term the comes from the idea of helping someone as soon as possible hence the term First Aid. There are so many different types of situation where different kinds of first aid are key.

First aid safety and awareness is something that involves being prepared as anything can happen at any moment of the day and you should always be aware of what goes on around you. Every home, store, mall, auto, boat, and car should be equipped with an emergency kit that includes many different types of first aid supplies that may apply to the situation that is at hand. You will also want to have a first aid manual that educates you on different types of accidents that can happen and what to do when the situations occur. As every incident is different and varies from the next you will want to do your best to understand and pay attention to what the book is telling you, as it will help you to save a life.

You also have to be prepared this can not be stressed enough, as first aid is something that may involve you learning some kind of skills that can assist you in doing what is write for the situation that you are in. First aid may be required for medical emergencies such as heart attacks, stroke, and seizures for that matter.  First aid has long been something that has been forgotten by today’s people as we rely so much on computers and medicine to find the answers to the problems of injuries that we can not solve for ourselves. But, the fact of the matter is that First aid is something that has such an important role in how people are able to sustain themselves within the first few minutes of being injured as those first few minutes of a serious accident can be the most challenging as you or the person who is in harm may not know how they are going to get out of the problem that they are in.

Regardless of what your level is in helping people and how secure you are helping others that have some kind of ailment or problem the best thing that you can do is call for assistance from the 911. If you find yourself in a situation where there is a true emergency always call 911 for medical assistance as fast as you can. Also remember that if you are involved in any medical situation that is beyond your abilities to provide any kind of first aid, you should never hesitate to call for emergency medical assistance right away.

Do the best that you can for the most but remember to be aware of your surroundings and educate yourself in what you need to do as this is very important for you to remember as your life and someone else’s life may depend on it.

Teaching Your Kids Firstaid

Teaching Your Kids Firstaid

When dealing with first aid and safety we as adults fail to realize that children are just as susceptible to injuries and accident as much if not more than adults. They usually tend to suffer from these accidents because of their small body frames and the lack of maturity. As a parent and or adult teaching a child first aid techniques can be very important for their growth not only as children but also as human beings.

Teaching your child first aid techniques is not something that is considered to be easy by any means. Before you even began to teach your child things in which they can do to help a friend, parent or family member in harm is sit them down and have a conversation with them. It is important for your children to be educated on the topic at hand, they need to understand that these safety rules are not a game and are not to be played with as they can be the determining factor for someone’s life. Sounds like a lot but as a parent it’s your job to be honest with your child, just put it in within terms that they can understand.

There are so many first aids techniques and concepts that you will want to perform and look into. While doing all of this you will need to know what you are dealing with. You need to know your child and what they can understand as every child is not the same. What you teach your child will depend on the state of mind and how capable they are with understanding and seeing what you are attempting to teach them. While teaching your child you need to realize that you will not be able to rely on your child’s critical thinking as this is something that is not fully formed in them. For the most part children will do what you tell them, as you are their parent so they will listen.

While teaching your child first aid this can be something that may take a few hours as some things may be hard for them to understand and comprehend. Throughout this conversation you will tackle a lot of different concepts and you will need to make sure that you are instructing your child in the proper first aid terms and prevention. Do not move on from one first aid subject to the next as you will want to make sure that your child first understands what you have gone over in details. Depending on how old your child is, some will be able to be taught about the different forms of medication that there is and if they can handle in giving these types of medication to someone when they are need of care.

When teaching your child all of the possible things that they can do in the event of an accident, you have to realize that they might get scared. You have to let them know as their parent that it is okay to be scared as we all get scared but that they need to realize that this is a serious case of someone’s life. You will want to explain to them that there are boundaries that they have and should not overstep in any way. Although first aid is very important for them to know about and have some kind of knowledge on, you should also explain to them that if the situation is too much to handle or they are to scared that it is safer for them to call for help and just talk to the person who is injured until help arrives at the scene.

Children can be taught moves that can save lives by something as simple as applying pressure on a body part that is bleeding and needs to be stopped. They can do all these things but you must remember to tell your children the number one first aid safety rule for themselves and that is that they can only help if they know the person that they intend on helping. You will want your children to understand that they can help if it is needed and they need the person then they can help, but make them aware that there is no need for them to rush to the scene of a bloody site and stop and help a random person, for the fact that while this is noble and great of your child, blood carries many things.

Teach your children to recognize their surroundings and the things that go on around them as this a big part of first aid safety. Teach them to recognize scars and scratches and such that usually mean something different. Let them know never to touch someone who is bleeding blood all over as blood is used to carry diseases in many different shapes and sizes, you can be prepare your child for first aid safety but also prepare them to do the right thing so that they can better themselves in the situation and the person in which they are trying to help.

Helpful First Aid Tips

The last thing you want to do is have some crazy unexpected accident happen in your home while you’re not there and anytime of day. The fact of the matter is that there is so much that can happen within the course of minutes that can change your life and the lives of the people around you at any given moment. That’s why you need to know the safety rules, the rules or protection, the tips that can help you to prevent life harming injuries.

When something happens out of nowhere and someone becomes suddenly ill, there is something that is called a critical moment. This moment is the period before you can get any help or treatment and it usually the time that is the most important to the person that is hurting. There are so many questions that run through your head within the course of that moment, so many that you many not know what to do. This is the moment between life and death and it is up to you to save the person life and do the best that you can to make them feel comfortable in that moment of time, they are depending on you to save their life and you need to be able to focus and have a clear mind on what it is that you need to do.

With safety tips they are something that can come in handy at any moment at any time and you owe it to yourself and the people around you to know what you are doing as that may very well be the thing that can save a life. The most important Fist Aid tip is very easy as you can’t really do anything without having the proper procedure and tools to assist you in your work. You will need a first aid kit if you don’t happen to have one already.

With the first aid supplies you need to realize that they should be kept in a place where you can find them when they are needed. A helpful tip would be to keep organized and be neat in your usage of the first aid kit. Another helpful tip would be that you might want to consider labeling the box itself as this will keep you in the state of mind of staying neat and having easy access to your first aid kit. After you have labeled the kit itself, you will want to consider labeling each item that is within your box as this will help you determine what can be used when the time is right. This is such an important tip to consider for the reason that you do not want to be scrambling all over to find that one package that may save you or the victim the risk of being in further pain. Remember that you will want to place the kit in a safe place where children can’t reach it as this is something that may be harmful to them.

You will want to keep all of your medication, all of your pills, and liquid medicines out of the reach of children. This includes all drugs, not just the medicine that can have a little affect. A little know tip that less is more in the case when you are putting drugs and medicine out of the harm of children. Another tip to remember is when you are disposing of all medicine do it the right way, do not get rid of something half way, when using medication take the proper precautions needed to make sure that you stay safe.

When put in a situation that requires you to react a very important tip that you will want to think back on is one where you have to make sure that the person who is injured has room to breathe in every sense of the word. Make sure that there is nothing blocking the airway, this would include the tongue and any object in your mouth. If the person is not maintaining a healthy breathing rate you will want to go to your kit and find something that will coincide with the situation at hand. A tip for you as the person tending to the victim, you must stay calm for yourself and the person.

You will want to make sure that the victim has a steady pulse and a blood rotation that is good, as you will want to check for any signs of bleeding and make sure that the person you are tending to is okay. You will need to be on you game and be ready as this is a person life that you are tending to you, they are depending on you for the type of support  and you will want to be sure to that are taking this seriously at all times.

A tip for you to remember when dealing with a person who has some kind of physical force done to them is that they can be moved and it is safe in most cases for them to be moved from place to place. Just be careful in how you decide to move the person. Remember to keep the patient lying down and make sure that they are quiet. If he/she is vomiting and there is no sign of neck damage or pain then turn them on their side and stop the choking and keep the warm with any blankets and or covers that are around.

Protect Your Investment with CPR Classes in Chicago

How safe is your workplace if your employees aren’t certified in CPR?

Most people don’t like to think about the reality of life threatening emergencies taking place at random. It’s a safe bet that some have no clue where to go for CPR Classes in Chicago.  As a business owner or Human Resources manager, it is your responsibility to ensure the safety of your employees while on the job.  Citywide CPR takes pride in their ability to provide training for individuals or groups. You can also complete Online Safety Courses and receive a certificate of completion from the Citywide CPR website.

With the summer months approaching, the need for CPR classes is even more crucial to the safety of your workplace. It would be ideal to have at least one person in each department or on every floor of your office certified in CPR, if not your entire staff. When it comes to breathing, every second counts, and having your staff certified in CPR can be the difference of saving or losing a life.  If performed correctly, CPR can make a major difference between the time the emergency occurs and the time the paramedics arrive.

The full medical term for CPR is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and below is a few facts on the purpose, benefits and possible risks of CPR:

What is CPR?

  • CPR is an emergency procedure performed on people suffering from cardiac arrest.
  • CPR consists of two components: chest compressions and artificial respiration

What is the Purpose of CPR?

  • The purpose of CPR is to provide a consistent flow of oxygen to the lungs and brain until the person regains consciousness or until the paramedics arrive.

What are the benefits of CPR?

  • When CPR works it usually helps prevent death
  • CPR may prolong life for patients who are in good health

What are some risks associated with CPR?

  • It’s very possible to press down on the chest too hard and cause the ribs to be broken or lungs to collapse
  • Patients with severe illnesses rarely survive after CPR

Citywide CPR consists of a team of medical professionals who dedicate their lives to training everyday people to become life savers. The company was founded by 20 year healthy and safety business veteran, Alan Lermer. He currently works as a fire captain and paramedic in addition to running Citywide CPR serving clients across the country.  They know firsthand the importance of CPR and first aid training and will assure that you and your employees are prepared in the event of an emergency.

Little Known Ways to Control Glucose Level to Prevent Diabetes

Little Known Ways to Control Glucose Level to Prevent Diabetes

Our pancreas is affected by diabetes – specifically, Type 2.Our body contains glucose found in the blood stream, which it gets from the sugar in food. Our body uses the glucose, but only when it goes into our blood cells and the insulin released by our pancreas converts it. Insulin production and utilization is difficult for someone who lives with Type 2 diabetes .T here is a lot of glucose in the body, but your cells cannot locate them.

The American Diabetes Association has the duty of looking for information regarding this important medical condition. 23.6 million individuals living in America currently have diabetes, and because of this the country is seen as very unhealthy. Ninety percent of this figure has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes and the tendency to be overweight usually run in the family. If there is too much glucose in your body, it could result in serious internal organ damage and affect one’s nervous system.

Living with Diabetes

A life with Type 2 diabetes is best lived in a healthy way. Diabetics will find that healthy practices will have a huge effect on them. Simple actions like eating healthy food and exercising are considered as healthy practices. Keeping the levels of your glucose within the appropriate range ensures you stay away from health complications.

To check the levels of blood glucose in your body, you can do the common finger prick test. Physicians say that such a test is comparable to the HbA1c test when tracking the glucose fluctuations in your body. This HbA1c test works by determining how high your glucose levels are and by identifying the blood’s exact glycated hemoglobin percentage. According to results of the A1c tests, people who have diabetes maintain their levels at seven percent. A seven percent maintaining level of a1c, according to the CDC, can dramatically reduce the risks of this disease by around forty percent.

Too-Tight Controls

Many studies in the medical field show that if your a1c levels are below seven percent it could mean a bad thing. People who use insulin and people who have median a1c levels have a higher death risk, according to the Seattle Lancet and Swedish Medical Center’s studies. Other tests maintain that keeping your a1c level at seven percent is still on the healthy side. Accredited endocrinologist Matt Davies shares that seven percent is healthy but it is still important for physicians to consider a patient’s medical history before implementing treatment.

About the Author – Kristina Ridley writes for the bloodless glucose meter blog , her personal hobby blog focused on healthy eating and tips to measure blood glucose levels at home to help people understand early diabetes symptoms.
