first aid blisters First Aid Blisters
How do I treat these terrible blisters on my feet?

Last night I went out and wore high heel shoes. Usually when I go out with heels, I’ll have sore feet but never blisters like these! On the ball of my left foot, is about a 1 inch line of blister starting from my middle toe ending on my pinky toe. It is probably about 1/4 inch wide. It is white and hurts very badly. On my right foot, it is more round and about the size of a dime, also on the ball of my foot. While walking a few minutes ago, I felt this extreme pressure and then water filled my flip flop, meaning it had been popped. So one blister is popped, one blister is not. I can barely walk and my first day of class is tomorrow. Should I use peroxide to sterilize the blisters? Should I pop the one on my left foot? I bought some band aids specifically for blisters. Some websites say use peroxide, some don’t so that’s really my question.

I hear that rubbing neosporin is good for it and let it get lots of air. The worst thing is to pop it.

Wilderness First Aid Kits

wilderness first aid kits Wilderness First Aid Kits
I’m planning a winter wilderness camping trip this year and i was wondering if you could give me some idea’s?

These are the items i’m bringing with me so far, maybe you could give me some more idea’s.

1. Magnesium fire starter(water proof)
2. 30 by 30 foot tarp with 100 feet of hemp rope
3. Multi-tool with built in knife
4. 4 days worth of food(14 day trip)
5. First-aid kit
6. Thermal blacket and sleeping bag
7. Hunting knife
8. 100 feet of fishing line and 10 hooks
9. Map and compass
10. Camping gear like cup, spoon, knife, fork and so on.

Why are you bringing both a hunting knife and a multi-tool with a built in knife? This seems redundant. And consider changing our your hemp rope (will absorb water) w/ a nylon rope.

Some other things:
- hat and gloves
- layered clothing (long underwear, fleece pants and top, fleece jacket, windproof jacket – no cotton)
- backpacking stove with fuel (white gas/Coleman fuel type stoves may work better in the cold than the canister types)
- for eating utensils try only bring a large thermal mug and a spoon – the cup can act as a bowl and a cup and the spoon is a very versatile utensil and take the place of a knife to cut soft stuff and spread stuff like a knife – the fork is just redundant.
- skis or snowshoes
- a sled to put your stuff in and haul (I have used a modified “kiddie” sled in the past

Questions about university?

I dont do alot of activitys, so ive started doing swimming and im going to start doing a first aid course. Is there any other things that i can add to my cv?

Also i wanted to ask, is it important to be involved in a lot of activitys? do colleges like that? im planning on going to cardiff uni to study accountancy.

one other thing i wanted to ask was you know when you go to uni, is it easy to make friends? im not very loud, im quite shy but friendly. Im fine when talking one on one to a person, im just not very talkative in group situations. Will it be hard for someone like me to make friends? im worried. Im intending on staying in the student accomidation.

Finally, any other tips for university?
would be much appreciated :)
thanks
x

Universities like the extra activities. Put it this way; if you applied for a course, and another person did the same, and both of you had the same grades, but he/she did more activities, the uni will accept him/her.
BUT, they aren’t that important, only do them if you 1) have spare time and 2) you feel that your performance in class will not be effected.

You can try volunteering, universities LOVE that.

About you being shy, erm, it’s only hard to make friends if you do not talk to people. You won’t make friends by staying quite all day.

First Aid Procedure

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

first aid procedure First Aid Procedure
Describe the symptoms and first aid procedures for a.) Fractures, b.) Strains and sprains?

The signs and symptoms for a fracture can be remembered using the acronym PLUSDICT:

Pain
Loss of Power and/or Movement
Unnatural Movement
Swelling and Brusing
Deformity
Irregularity
Crepitus (CRUNCHING!)
Tenderness

To treat a fracture, the area surrounding the fracture should be stablised using rolled-up clothing or anything which will protect it from movement; and you should treat for shock by raising the legs.

A strain or sprain can usually be detected by using the patients history; what happened before the injury occured. There is usually pain; swelling and poor movement in the direction of the foot. RICE is used to help remember the treatment:

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

First Aid Test Questions

first aid test questions First Aid Test Questions
blood test question,10 points.?

((excuse my english))
I had two sexual partners in my life in 2008 and now that i am single, i was wondering what all do a blood test can detect? or what else can I take to know i am 100% clean? my ex boyfriend which was my first sexual partner had herpes but I don’t have it,and I let him get an AIDs test too which he was clean but my other ex told me he never had sex without condom and i was the first one he had sex without condom.he is only 19 so i doubt he had many parthners. so I am not completly worried but still i want to take a test. so what all a blood test can detect?

Blood tests can detect a lot of stuff, but the thing is that you have to specify to your doctor WHICH tests you want them to run on the blood – they don’t automatically test for everything. For instance, most “complete” STD tests don’t test for Herpes – usually just gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, and HIV. There is no FDA approved test for men to detect HPV unless there are visible warts. Therefore, a PAP is required to test women for HPV. Herpes can be tested through a type specific blood test, but again, in must be requested by the patient. Condoms don’t protect 100% from HSV and HPV because they are transmitted by skin-to-skin contact, not through bodily fluids. 1 in 4 women have HSV and 1 in 2 have HPV. And 90% of the people who have Herpes don’t know they have it. So, many people think they are “clean” and are mistaken. It is good that you are concerned. Definitely go in to your doctor and get tested. Just remember to get a list of what they are testing you for. Sometimes doctors don’t explain it well enough to patients which causes confusion. Ask for a hard copy of your test results. Good luck!

where to get certified for lifeguarding?

i am 15 years old and about to be 16 in september and live in metairie. i have been certified in Standerd First aid, CPR/ AED– Adult and child with CPR– Infant through my school and have been offered a job at a country club but need to certified in lifeguarding first.. does any one know where i can go? i really need an answer soon… i live in metairie louisiana… please please help
o by the way im also certified through the safe sitter program
whats the tag agency?

Local high schools, YMCA, and the Red Cross chapters usually provide certifications. Your best bet is to contact the red cross. They usually run programs through high schools or colleges. Hurry up though, i know that the first of the sessions for training has already ended. I believe you have a shot of signing up for sessions that i believe start in June. Good luck. lifeguarding is a blast.

You Too Can Find Business Success By Utilizing Online Social Networking

Those who have gotten involved in online social networking have enjoyed both business success and personal growth. Not only are you increasing internet exposure, but are able to drive more traffic to any business sites you have.

Since social networking is now playing an integral role in promoting and marketing strategies for businesses there are a few tips to be aware of before heading down that road.

Get involved by signing up for as many social networking sites as possible. You are no doubt familiar with Facebook and MySpace, and LinkedIn and Twitter to name a few. But there are others out there that may be worth joining.

By signing up for these sites and providing good content you can increase your online exposure. The goal is to get your company ranked on top of the Google, Bing and Yahoo search engine results.

Most sites are free and easy for the novice to navigate around. Some may not be free but may also offer amenities that the big names don’t.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to advertise in the classifieds from your social network? That is available now from some sites.

You maximize your exposure in online social network marketing by completing the profiles made available. These allow you to give your potential customers crucial information about yourself. Include any websites and blogs and backlinks you have along with a professional picture. Your goal is to create a relationship with your readers and a picture aids in doing so.

Invite as many people as possible when you build your network. Include friends, colleagues and business partners to join your network. You’ll want to be prolific in posting updates about yourself and your business. This indirectly but effectively lets your contacts know what’s going on in your life. You should also join relevant groups that you would specifically like to target. This gives you a great chance to share information about your area of expertise. Some great discussions can come from you increasing your online exposure.

Join relevant groups and review posts. Share information and answer questions regarding your area of expertise. This will increase your online exposure and build credibility. It can also help drive more traffic back to your website.

The key is to treat this like a ping pong game and keep the ball moving. It’s called volleying. You can keep your audience coming back to hear more from you by constantly giving fresh updates and offering good information and even giving out some type of freebies.

Get your readers involved by posting surveys and quizzes. Reward any winners you have and Recognize those who responded. The more they’re involved the more likely they will buy from you.
