What supplies should I include in my Grooming and first aid list?

I just got the shock of my life when my Father finally let me free lease this amazing Quarter Horse! After I started to calm down, I realized I’ll need a list of things to buy from the Tack shop. Now don’t get me wrong, I have been preparing for this and know what to include in a grooming kit, but I’m afraid I might be forgetting something.
So, basically, just to make sure I’ll be getting everything I was wondering if anyone had a list of supplies I will need for my Grooming and First Aid kits?

Thanks!

H1N1 Swine Flu Prevention in the Dental Office

Swine flu can affect the dental office just as easily as anywhere else. With information obtained from the CDA website (below), we have come up with some suggestions and best practices for preventing the spread of H1N1 in the dental office.  Respiratory cough etiquette, along with disinfectant precautions, are currently recommended for preventing the transmission of swine flu in a dental healthcare setting. CDC is working very closely with officials in states where human cases of H1N1 have been identified, as well as with health officials in Mexico and Canada. Using medical grade disinfectant sprays will kill H1N1, MRSA, TB, HPV, HIV-1 (AIDS Virus) and more.  The sprays are also safe for all areas of your practice – the exam room, all hard surfaces, tools and instruments, and all patient care rooms.  Below, read more about preventing the spread of H1N1 in dental settings.

What should I do if a patient is present for a routine checkup, and has respiratory symptoms?  If the dentist suspects the illness could be due to swine flu (fever, body aches, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, or vomiting are all symptoms), elective dental treatment should be stalled and the patient should be instructed to contact their health care provider. The health care provider will determine whether influenza testing or treatment is necessary.  Be sure to sterilize and disinfect any instrument or surface touched by the patient with a proper grade disinfectant spray.

How would you handle a situation where the patient has symptoms, but requires urgent dental care?  If necessary dental care is required and H1N1 has either been confirmed or suspected, the care should be provided in a facility (hospital with dental care capabilities) that provides airborne infection isolation (airborne infection isolation rooms with negative pressure air handling).

For aerosol-generating procedures, use a procedure room with negative pressure air handling. Personnel providing direct patient care for suspected or confirmed swine influenza A (H1N1) cases should wear a fit-tested disposable 3M N95 mask (respirator masks) when entering the patient room and when performing dental procedures. Respirator use should be in the context of a complete respiratory protection program, in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

  1. What if someone of your staff reports to work with acute respiratory symptoms?  Staff experiencing influenza-like-illness (fever with cough or sore throat) should not report to work.   Staff who experience these symptoms and wish to seek medical care should contact their healthcare provider to report the illness before seeking care at a clinic, physician’s office, or hospital. Workers who were not using appropriate personal protective equipment during close contact with a confirmed, probable, or suspect case of swine flu (H1N1) virus infection during the case’s infectious period should receive chemoprophylaxis according to CDC guidance.  Finally, employees who have difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, or are believed to be severely ill, should seek immediate medical attention.

With the proper preventative measures, issues surrounding swine flu and H1N1 infection can be controlled.  Using proper cough etiquette, n95 masks, and high grade disinfectant sprays, can go a long way in preventing the spread of H1N1 swine flu in the dental setting.

Exposure to Sunlight and the Effect on Allergies

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Sunlight has the potential to help to heal the body, because of the essential vitamins, such as D and K in provides. For a newborn baby that may be a bit jaundice, sitting in direct sunlight for 15 minutes or so several times a day can help eliminate that. Although, the sunlight has the ability and power to help promote healing, it also has the power to have a negative effect on a person who is sensitive to the direct sunlight.

Although, this may seem strange it is true. The sunlight can cause some individuals to have manifest symptoms where they feel they are going to vomit, cannot breathe too well, blisters, wheezing, the areas exposed can have a rash that may burn and much worse.

Now, there are questions that have no answers to them, but some of the known explanations for allergic reactions to the sunlight can be specific medicines, creams or perfumes, a sickness or disease and an immunity that is not strong for whatever the reason. Doctors can be the best ones to help and determine the source.

What to Look for in an Online English Course

When you want to learn English online, you will find many free courses online. What you have to be careful of is that many of these online English courses only give you a few free lessons and then you have to sign up and pay for the rest of the lessons in the course. If you already know some English the free lessons can be beneficial to help you refresh your knowledge or determine whether or not you need to start at the beginner level.

You do need to find a course that encompasses the four processes of a language ?listening, speaking reading and writing. Courses that only give you information and explanation of concepts are of little use because you don’t get a chance to practice what you learn in the lessons. This means you need to look for interactive courses in which you can complete the practice exercises for each lesson and then find out how many of your answers are correct. This gives you a chance to review the lesson to understand your mistakes. You can take the practice exercises as many times as you wish until you get all the questions correct. Then you can move on to the quiz on the lesson and feel a sense of accomplishment when you achieve a high grade.

In addition to having explanations of the lesson printed on the computer screen, there should be a link to where you can hear these explanations spoken. This way you can read along with the speaker and get a chance to learn the pronunciation of the words. There should be a listening component to the course in which you have to listen to a speaker read a short passage or conversation and then you answer questions on what you listened to. This will make sure you understand what you hear.

Some of the online courses have a component in which you can speak and read passages in English and receive feedback on your speech. However, these are mainly found in courses for which you have to pay a fee. In the free online courses, you can read passages on your own and record yourself. Then you can compare how well your pronunciation is to that of the speaker.

Most of the English courses online have news clips written in English that you can read to gain knowledge of what is happening in the world. You can also read English books online as well as paly word games that will really increase your vocabulary skills. Each lesson should have a list of the main vocabulary covered in that lesson. It would be extremely helpful if you find an online site that includes a dictionary so that you can translate the words in English to words of your own language. This will really aid your learning.

It is best to start at the beginning so that you learn English at a slow pace. Don’t try to rush through the lessons and make sure you thoroughly understand them before you move on to the next lesson. Although you can choose lessons in any order, it is also best to take them in sequence because the skills of one lesson build on the ones you achieved in the previous lesson.

Mold Can Be the Cause For Many Allergies

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Mold is something that can be undetected and hidden. It can appear anywhere and is known to make people sick. Mold is that black stuff that appears on things that have been wet or damp. The possibilities of having mold beneath that wooden or tiled floor, walls or ceiling are high. Even the newer homes can have mold in it and can be making you feel sick from allergies without realizing it.

If there is allergy with mold and it the person has touched it somehow or maybe breathing it in, it can cause the person to have irritations in the lungs, eyes can burn or water, stuffy or runny nose and also the skin.

Mold can be very tricky and homes should be checked regularly for it, because it has been known to make many people very sick.

kept in first aid room Kept In First Aid Room
Need this dream interpreted…..?

I had this dream a couple nights ago. i remember being in this dark room that was poorly lit from another room. i tried to turn the light on but nothing happened. then i found myself in a shopping mall but it was dead silent as if time had stopped. only person i saw was a girl sitting on the floor with her head down and she sounded like she was crying. she looked similar to the girl in fatal frame 3, (where Rei finds her in that room near the closet) but i wasnt afraid to approach her. i went over to her, bent down on one knee and said “hey, hey, look at me.” i put one hand on her chin and lifted up her head towards my face and i noticed she had her eyes closed but there were no tears. then i said to her “open your eyes, open your eyes.” (as if giving first aid) she slowly opened her eyes, i helped her get on her feet then suddenly she hugs me tightly. i turn and see these guys walking by, one of them giggles at me and they kept walking. she disappeared then i woke up.

I am stumped sorry!

DNA testing aids in legitimizing international adoptions

DNA testing is becoming more frequently used in international adoption cases to confirm adoptee eligibility, and eliminate human trafficking schemes. A DNA test is used to establish a biological relationship between prospective adoptive children and their parents who voluntarily consented to adoption.

In adoption cases where a birth parent has been identified, the prospective adoptive parents, their attorney, or the adoption agency must contact the USCIS office at the Embassy through which the adoption is being arranged. Once the Embassy identifies the child and accepts the request, they may provide authorization to have DNA samples collected. At that point, either the adoption agency or the prospective adoptive parents must contact an AABB accredited laboratory to perform the test. Once selected, the laboratory generally will submit a DNA sample collection kit to the Embassy or appointed panel physician for use in collecting the DNA samples from the child and his/her birth parent(s). In addition to collecting the DNA samples, chain of custody paperwork must be completed and photos taken of the individuals at the time of sample collection. The collecting agent will package the samples and all documents and return the kit to the laboratory to perform the test. Once the results are available, the laboratory must forward them to the USCIS office of the Embassy. Then, once the Embassy receives results which confirm a biological relationship, they may either approve the case or refer it for further investigation. Sometimes, an interview is required with the birth parent to confirm his/her full and irrevocable abandonment of the child or to determine whether the child can be legally classified as an orphan.

The costs of DNA testing and related expenses (such as doctor’s fees and the cost of transmitting testing materials and DNA samples) must be borne by the petitioner.

In some cases, the Embassy may require a second DNA test, to verify that the adopted child for whom an immigrant visa is being requested is the same child matched at the beginning of the adoption process with the birth parent.

The DNA Identity Testing Center of Bio-Synthesis, Inc. is an active member of the AABB Relationship Testing Accreditation Program and actively participates in proficiency testing by the College of American Pathologists. With nearly 15 years experience in the DNA testing field, law enforcement, legal representatives and individuals alike trust BSI with their private and legal DNA testing issues, worldwide. Visit www.800dnaexam.com for a full description of all testing services.
